Classic Carlson Tale

It is science fair time here at the Carlsons and this story is classic. Brady, my oldest, came home in early November expressing he had to do a science fair project and wanted me to take him to the Library to check out books. Although he did not ask for my help, I felt it is my responsibility to guide him. Ha ha ha. He refused any help from me other than to take him to the Library. Days come and go and I keep pushing with no avail. Nathan comes home and in a 20 minute "hang out" session they "got it" all "figured out". (Did you notice the "quotes"?). I of course don't get it and it becomes a little bit of a drama. Long story short, Brady came home Friday and said "Mom, you know how you said my science project wasn't that good, well I'm going to the district competition". It was one of two physics projects that won! Mind you my intention wasn't to say that it "wasn't good" apparently I just didn't get it.

Diet Coke

Thank goodness I didn't make quiting Diet Coke a new years resolution. Let me start by saying that Tuesdays are crazy days at our home. Tuesday means cub scouts, 11 year old scouts, dance, once a month pack meeting, and somewhere in there we do homework and eat dinner. Well yesterday was pack meeting and I had lots of errands to run. By the time I got to Sam's club, I was a little more than stressed. I decided to get a Diet Coke on my way out. There I am about to leave while the clerk lady looks over my receipt and Tyson (2yr) is crying over getting a drink from my cup. I don't ever give him Diet coke or coke. I told him "Diet Coke is yucky gross". He stops crying and calmly and clearly blurts out "No its not. Its good". The Sam's club staff had a good laugh. All I could do is laugh because he is right. It is good. Moral of my story "don't lie about Diet Coke".

Sleeping in the garage

This past weekend Tyson has been sick with croup. I found myself being grateful we still have the couch in the garage. The cold air helped Tyson breath easier. We spent half the night out there. After a couple of Decadron doses he is doing a little better. He still wants to be held 24 hours so I'd better quit blogging.

Park City

There is so much to do in Park City. We visited the Olympic Park and Museum, drove by the outlets, ate lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon on the tubing slopes. The kids loved it and each one wanted to go faster. We are so excited to go skiing. It will just take some planning.
Park City was busy getting ready for the Sundance Film Festival. No star citing this trip maybe next time.

Brown Bear Brown Bear What do you see?

I see my siblings playing with me.
While Brady and Nathan were working out in the garage, Tyson comes out in his Bear costume. Mind you he would not wear the hat on Halloween. Some how Eden got him to wear it. It was so cute to watch him go around trying to growl at us all. In this second picture Brown Bear is eating snow from his snow cave.

Gardner Village

We finally made it to Gadner Village and I fell in love with the little shops. The coolest thing is that it is minutes away. Like always I wish I would have taken more pictures, especially of inside of stores. Notice my kids still don't get the idea winter coats. They all forgot to bring them so our trip was short lived. I'm hoping to go back soon.

New Year

Happy New Year!!!
As I was cleaning out papers, I found an empty 2010 Goal list. I realized that I haven't been very good at making New Year Resolution goals and I have decide that I would like to make some goals for 2011. I am good with list and I am even better at them when I see them. So here it is my goals for 2011.

1. Provide a happy loving home where my family and I find Joy in each other and the Gospel.
2. Read scriptures everyday.
3. Exercise 5x week.
4. "Take the Best of who I am, and serve those around me"
5. Cook one new recipe each week. (This one sounds easy but it might be my hardest one)
6. Write more letters and Thank You's
7. Be grateful everyday
8. Be unfailing in my personal prayers.
9. Take and Pass the RNC test.
10. Floss everyday
11. Eat better (I'm getting a late start on this one...)
12. Save more.

I am happy to report that my kids have their own goals to read the scriptures everyday. This past week they have been champions at keeping me on track with the scriptures. So the first thing I would like to be grateful for is my kids and my husband. It is because of them that I want to be better. I learn from them everyday. Even on days when I feel like no one appreciates anything mom's do, I find Joy that they are mine.
